Event Description

Viewing Holacracy through the Agile Manifesto Lens

Holocracy is a major cultural shift within the organization.  What is it ?  And why is it important ?

In this follow-up meeting from the September meeting on "Dynamic Governance"  by Sheella Mierson, we are going to cover Holacracy.  (We used to meet at a company Ternary in Lionville years ago, run by Brian Robertson who was committed to running his company using Holocracy, and who now runs HolocracyOne, and it is time to revisit the subject.)

For this meeting, we will be looking at each point of the Agile Manifesto  and having a discussion on how both Agile and Holacracy relate and complement each other in light of the Manifesto.  This will be a more intimate setting, and more of an interactive discussion that a presentation.

There are general introductory presentations of Holacracy on YouTube that may be viewed before attending to help frame Holacracy. But even without viewing them, or knowing much about Holacracy, you will see how Holacracy extends core principles of Agile into other work environments and into the organization's structure to provide a more meaningful business model.

Our Speaker is Michael Dobbins

He reminded me that the meeting introducing Holacracy was actually in Nov 2006 at Ternary with Brian.  This is what got him following and working with Holacracy.  From 2007 to 2014, he has been working in Northern Virginia, with the Holcracy view to organizations, and regularly attends the Agile Leadership Network meetings in DC.

How much Holacracy has he done ?  Wow.  Just wow.
