WEBINAR: A SYSTEMS APPROACH TO SAFETY-DRIVEN TESTING
May 14th, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM ET
Join us for the interactive webinar with Dr. John P. Thomas, Executive Director, Engineering Systems Laboratory Safety and Cybersecurity Group at MIT
At MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Dr. Thomas develops systems approaches to safety. He assumes accidents and losses can be caused not only by component failures but by unsafe interactions of system components that have not failed.
Self-driving cars are a good example of software-intensive, safety-critical systems. In this interactive webinar, John will introduce us to Systems-Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), and we will collaboratively and interactively use the chat feature to analyze and identify test scenarios for a self-driving car.
Testing obviously impacts safety, and STPA offers a new way to identify test scenarios and workflows when we analyze complex systems. This approach can even take into account the human actions of operators and users: it will suggest answers to questions about how we test for the critical decisions they make and will ensure they are receiving adequate feedback to make the correct decisions.
So join us in this fun and interactive session to explore a new approach to safety-driven testing and help us develop test ideas together!

At AgilePhilly, we have been Promoting Agile Ideas since 1776
AgilePhilly is a not-for-profit user group of volunteers in the Philadelphia area dedicated to better software development practices.
Meetings are monthly. Get meeting reminders by joining here.
Our attempt with the group is to provide an environment where you can exchange ideas and meet with individuals involved in agile community.
