Event Description

 Practical UX at Philly CHI

for all you Philly, Bucks County and Jersey people !

on Thursday October 9th
from 6 PM - 9 PM
at Leadnomics downtown

During every design project, everyone involved loves to talk about users--what users want, their particular needs, exactly how they will use the product, and so on. But how often are users actually involved in the design process? In this presentation, we will look at practical steps for involving users in the design process whether it be a website, mobile app, or multichannel service. We will discuss how to employ tried and true user-centric techniques to inform and evaluate our designs ensuring that what we build we be useful, usable, and enjoyable.

This presentation will be particularly helpful to students, junior user experience practitioners, and designers, developers, project managers, and other interested individuals who wish to introduce information architecture and user research practices into their organizations.

Dave Cooksey is a user experience consultant based in Philadelphia. For the past 10 years, he has worked both independently and with digital agencies providing information architecture and taxonomy services to clients in the e-commerce, media, and healthcare industries. He is passionate about informing and evaluating design through user research and the power of structured data to drive experiences. He is an active member of the UX community in Philadelphia and has served as Chair of PhillyCHI multiple times. He is a member of the Information Architecture Institute and volunteers in organizing the IA Summit. When not working, you’ll find him at Phillies baseball games, drinking craft beers, or traveling internationally.

The host Leadnomics is a Philadelphia-based online marketing company founded in 2007. Dynamic and analytical leaders focused on thoughtful domination, their aim is to make the world of lead gen—and the City of Philadelphia—as awesome as possible.
