Project Management & ITIL: How project managers leverage ITIL to drive supportable (and successful!) solutions
So many projects revolve around introducing, leveraging or upgrading technology solutions. While frameworks like PMBoK and methodologies such as Agile drive the definition and development of solutions, those solutions are ultimately turned over to ongoing operations.
The smoothness of that transition and effective handling of support are key factors in determining whether a project is deemed successful.
Technology Operations rely heavily on the ITIL framework to operate and maintain technology effectively.
In this session, we will give a high-level overview of ITIL and how it is used across many organizations. We’ll then identify the intersection points that project managers can leverage to ensure that their projects transition successfully into operations, freeing project teams from being mired in support issues and user complaints.
Elizabeth Martens, Director of Client Services at PPT Consultants will share her experiences and views in this fascinating look at finding common ground.

For those new to ITIL, it is a Book of Knowledge that is used quite often by larger companies to ensure all facets of a project are covered, so that success is more likely. There are mulitple Certs. on ITIL for those who are interested.
As we know, Agile methods are not the end-all and be-all, and knowing about other avenues to make your projects successful is part of our jobs, too. Even as a lowly team member, understanding what ITIL covers and how it "ensures success" can help you understand and speak the language of Project managers.
Thurs May 28th from 7:30 to 9:30 am, PPT is speaking at the NHS Training Center in Blue Bell about transitioning to Consulting in Business Analysis and Project Mgmt
