TOPIC: Techniques for Unlocking Customer Needs   presented by Debra Banville

Have you delivered exactly what the business customers asked for and they were not happy? Have you ever found yourself saying “The customers do not know what they want!”? if you answered ‘yes’ then this session is for you… After working as a bridge for many years between a diverse set of business partners and developers, Debra has developed some simple techniques for unlocking and delivering what the business customers really need.

Debra’s presentation contains three basic sections covering strategies essential to good stakeholder management focused on: (1) Networking & stakeholder landscaping; (2) Developing requirements that resonate; and (3) Managing the project team & stakeholders. Her presentation will primarily center on the importance of laying a good foundation with the business, end users and developers before launching a project

About the Presenter: Debra Banville is a Principal Investigator at DuPont's Central R&D where she works with businesses and researchers to facilitate competitive intelligence analysis. She has a PhD in Chemistry, is certified as a Project Manager (PMP) with over 20 years of experience in managing scientific and research based projects. She is an experienced business analyst with Lean Six Sigma training and has recently authored several papers on information mining in the scientific literature including a book on chemical information mining (CRC Press).
