The Agile practice of Vertical Slicing is usually done with very long User Stories "Epics" that consume vast amounts of time and energy.  Vertical Slicing is the best approach to manage complexity and resources in an Agile, customer-oriented style.

( The topic is a back to basics, so that the newer members of AgilePhilly get to ask questions and get involved in some questions and answers and experience stories with the group.  . . as well as experienced Agile users to reflect on the basics to be shared with coworkers. )
