It launched the film career of Steve McQueen - and also Aneta Corsaut most known for her work on the Andy Griffith Show.

The Colonial Movie Theatre in Phoenixville where one famous scene was shot is now a Not-For-Profit Entertainment Centre - now that the organization had acquired the Bank Building next door and has converted it to theater space. https://thecolonialtheatre.com
July 4th weekend at the Colonial Theatre is a film festival which includes bringing back the geleatinous Blob material for kids to play with, a tinfoil hat contest, and the annual recreation of the running out of the movie theater - which due to the bright lights of the local news outlets covering the event - blind participants and cause multiple injuries on the city sidewalk.

The BLOB Diner in nearby Downingtown is a local favorite. Business Rte 30 and Viaduct Avenue, Downingtown
