Not Pair Programming - but Pair Up Programming
This is not an AgilePhilly meeting.
Girl Develop It (the user group to encourage young female professionals, but also men, to investigate different areas of the IT industry) is inviting women and men to practice their HTML and CCS and javascript skills
Have you been wanting to carve out some time to practice your HTML/CSS or JavaScript skills, but not sure what to do or where to start?
Come out to PairUp Programming and practice coding with the help of a fellow GDI student at your skill level!
For 2 hours you’ll be paired up with a fellow classmate to hack on a small project designed to give you some great practice coding in HTML/CSS or Javascript.
There will be three group levels:
Level 1 - HTML/CSS,
Level 2 -Basic Javascript,
and Level 3 - Advanced Javascript.
We’ll have a list of project ideas available for you to pick from ( workshop.theresnobox.net - ) These exercises will be consolidated and added too soon)
Agenda:
After some brief intros, we will talk a little bit about what Pair Programming is all about, with a brief demo. Then we’ll pair up in twos and each group will pick an exercise to work on together for about 2 hours. At the end, we’ll recap on what we all did and learned during the session.
Prerequisites:
This workshop is meant to be a follow up to our Intro to HTML/CSS and Intro to JavaScript classes, or for people with an introductory level experience with these languages. As this is a hands-on, focused practice session, there will be no instruction. There will however be great and supportive people ready to help you if you have any questions!
For Class:
Please bring a laptop to work on with the following installed:
- A text editor such as Sublime Text 3
- A web browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox
- Also a notebook or sketchbook may be handy for brainstorming ideas with your partner.
Also, please do your best to arrive promptly at the start time.
At AgilePhilly, we have been Promoting Agile Ideas since 1776
AgilePhilly is a not-for-profit user group of volunteers in the Philadelphia area dedicated to better software development practices.
Meetings are monthly. Get meeting reminders by joining here.
Our attempt with the group is to provide an environment where you can exchange ideas and meet with individuals involved in agile community.
