Good Discovery --- A first step on the path to shorter lead time

RSVP on this page.

And keep your RSVP current.

Abstract:

Do your customers seem to have an unending list of features and stories they want the team to work on?

Do they often switch priorities on the team past the commitment point?

Does your team keep starting new work, but is having a hard time finishing due to these changes?

In this talk, we will help you to understand why the creation of a good discovery process is a key to being able to help the team work more efficiently with less context switching. We will review some real case study style examples of how discovery processes have helped existing teams deliver customer value faster.

During the workshop, you will learn how to create your own discovery processes and visualization tools that will help the team have crystal-clear insight as to what work should be committed. In addition, we will teach methods to influence both the team and customers, so you can take steps toward implementation as soon as you get back to work.

Bill and Bob are both Agile enthusiasts, Speakers, Coaches, Scrum Masters and Accredited Kanban Trainers who have implemented and seen the value of the discovery process in their careers using a variety of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LESS, to name a few).

Learning Outcomes:

Understand the benefits of a good discovery process

Determine how to balance customer demand with team capability

Define lead time and learn strategies to help decrease it

Learn methods to promote the discovery process with your team and stakeholders

Bring something back to your job that can be implemented as soon as you return
