Event Description

Software as Craft Philadelphia

presents

a Code Retreat on
 Saturday Nov 16

https://www.meetup.com/Software-as-Craft-Philadelphia/events/266306393

We'll be pair programming on coding exercises from 10:00am - 3:30pm with a break for lunch (provided by Linode). The time has been updated since the event was originally posted, FYI.

This is Sam Jones favorite event of the year and really embodies what our meetup is about, bringing the atmosphere of honing ones craft to the things we do on a daily basis as software developers. This is the best opportunity to learn, practice, and teach TDD, so come with your laptops ready to collaborate!

The event is language agnostic, though we will have boilerplate projects setup for common languages to save time during our pairing sessions.

This part of the Global Day of Code Retreat

"The Global Day of Code Retreat  https://www.coderetreat.org  is a day when developers all over the world will be practicing the fundamentals of software development."

Yes, it is a Coding Kata with an entire day dedicated to  making some throwaway code - which makes you a better programmer.

( a Kata is a martial arts practice session, where the fundamentals are done again and again so they are engrained into all actions.  In the learning levels of Shu-Ha-Ri, it is Shu. )

It is the best way to learn TDD and code design
