Even though our scheduled speaker for the Center-City Downtown group Don MacIntyre had a conflict, we will still meet.
The topic will be Lean Coffee (yes, they are usually held in the morning). Learn by doing as we structure the meeting as a Lean Coffee.
Definition:
Lean Coffee is a structured but agenda-less meeting. Participants gather, build an agenda, and begin talking. Excerpt taken from: http://leancoffee.org/
Great little video on "How to Run a Lean Coffee": https://youtu.be/zhG-A-kRPAU
This meeting is an interactive, face to face meeting using an Open Space Format.
One topic that may be suggested is the Kanban experience at C.H.O.P. - but that may be a topic that will be brought up at several meetings, as it is an ongoing process to refine the Kanban improvements.
A similar OpenSpace meeting will be Ron Jefferies and Chet Henderson talking on a variety of subjects of your choosing on April 7th at Sheraton Old City

For anyone who wasn't able to attend last night -
We will schedule at least one of these Open Forum events downtown per quarter.
I am happy to help orchestrate Lean Coffees in the morning as well for a different time block which will help additional member's schedules.
If anyone else from our community would be interested, please send me a message - I'll get you in touch with the group.
So glad that the many and varying companies of Philly can help each other.
These takeaways are what makes all the coordination worth it.
Absolutely - we will can and will use the AgilePhilly site for this.
When the lean coffees are scheduled and firm, I will be sure they are crossposted at Technical.ly Philly and NextPlex website.
If this new group is firm and commits to being a Lean Coffee, they should list it as a new entity on the Lean Coffee website
http://philadelphia.leancoffee.org would be its moniker.
@John My introvert side says no role playing! But I don't think it is necessarily a bad idea. It would be interesting to see how much interest it would generate.
In regards to a regular lean coffee... I don't think its a bad idea. Could we piggy back this site to schedule the events and see if it generates interest?
More than once last night, concerns were brought up about "How do I as a Project Mgr, People Mgr, etc address this problem XYZ with my employee, coworker, etc ?"
Would some role playing exercises be of some use ? (If for nothing else, than as a fall-back topic for meetings when the speaker was a no-show.)
I am a fan of giving practice interviews to friends that are going out to look for a job in the marketplace, and we at AgilePhilly can do some small but helpful things like that since we have a smaller group and can try different formats for meetings. Role Playing can make each of us better CSM, Project Leaders, Mgrs.
Think of it as a Code Kata for us as project leaders honing our people skills.
Something to think about.
The lean coffee was great! Thanks everyone for all your insights into the issues I brought up...I found it very valuable. This would be a great thing to do on a regular basis.
I had a great time last night. It was my first lean coffee and I think we had some great discussions!
Hi everyone, we are running this event as an Open Space, so that you have real input for any topics, current issues, or trends you'd like to discuss.
Do you have any other topics in mind?
Feel free to share them here or just bring them with you on Wednesday night.
Looking forward to seeing you all!
I have been listen to a podcast that uses this format, AgileCoffee. The group that runs this has a lot of good information to spark your curiosity. They also have a good write up on their Agile approach on What is a Lean Coffee? I am looking forward to participating in this event.
At AgilePhilly, we have been Promoting Agile Ideas since 1776
